Our Background

"Rocktown" has become a popular nickname for Harrisonburg due to the area's abundance of Limestone, which was commonly used as a resource in the early construction of the town. It is from this nickname that our current club name of Rocktown Rugby Football Club (RFC) was derived. Our logo features a rooster representing the heritage of the area and its connections with the poultry & farming community, three 5-point stars representing the traditional game of rugby with one point for each player on the pitch, and the colors of red, white, and blue as they have been prevalent throughout the history of the club.

From our founding in March 2012 until the redesign in early April of 2014, we were known as Harrisonburg Rugby F.C. and played in black-and-blue jerseys beneath a simple crest. The color red, dominant on our current jerseys, once only made an appearance in our crest and our merchandise. The origin of this crest, featuring a blue-and-red outline resembling a rugby ball surrounding a heraldic lily, is currently unknown, but it remains an intriguing part of our history.
